The bey

Viper Tail is the star of the BX-16 Random Booster — and a bit of a shapeshifter. Every box of this "Select"-format booster carries the same brand-new Viper Tail blade, but in three different builds, and those three variants actually get classed as different Types: the prize version is a stamina build, another runs defense, and the one collectors mean when they call Viper Tail an attack bey is this quick 4-60F setup. It's the aggressive shape of the Viper Tail blade that ties them together — a blade that's clearly built to throw its weight around, even when it ships on quieter tips.

How it plays

On the Flat variant, Viper Tail plays as a fast, aggressive attacker that wants to land big hits and knockouts. The blade's aggressive contact points generate real smash, and its recoil works both ways — it can bully an opponent, but a clean counter can also send it careening around the stadium or up off the floor. With the low 4-60 ratchet and Flat bit, it favors an active, attacking hand over a long, patient battle. Because the same blade appears across all three Random Booster variants, players get to feel out which personality suits them best just from the boxes they pull.

Combos & variants

This Random Booster introduced three new parts in one go — the Viper Tail blade, the 5-80 ratchet, and the Orb bit — and a "Select" format where each of the three beys has an equal chance of appearing (no razor-rare prize to chase). The three builds are Viper Tail 5-80O (the prize, a stamina-leaning setup), Viper Tail 3-80HN (a defensive build on High Needle), and Viper Tail 4-60F (this fighting-rapid attack version). The blade's weight and shape make it a fun experiment piece on all kinds of combos, and the new Orb bit found a following in stationary builds — which is why many collectors grab more than one box just to mix and match.

Where to get one

Released as the BX-16 Random Booster ViperTail Select in Japan on October 7, 2023 for ¥1400 per single booster — a blind-box style buy where the prize (5-80O) is no rarer than the others, so hunting is fair. As the very first "Select"-format Random Booster, it's an easy, budget-friendly way to add new Beyblade X parts to a collection.
