The bey

Shark Edge arrived as the prize bey of Beyblade X's first Random Booster, and it's the purest high-risk, high-reward attacker in the early format. Its two big upward-slanting fins give it both massive smash attack and genuine upper attack, and it's heavy enough to send opponents flying. The catch? It burns through stamina fast, so it's a bey for bladers who trust their aim over their patience.

Stock build

SharkEdge (prize variant) / 3-60 / LF (Low Flat)

Good at: explosive early hits with great KO and burst potential — raw attack power at least equal to Dran Sword's.

How it plays

Shark Edge is a "wreck them in the first exchanges or lose" bey. Its heavy, aggressive contact points can launch opponents over the Xtreme Zone wall even at lower spin, and its KO and burst potential are outstanding. But that power costs stamina — it depletes quickly, so it's almost entirely reliant on early hits to win. It also suffers from negative recoil: a clean counter (Phoenix Wing is the classic example) can use its own aggression against it and KO it right back. On top of that, its contact points dull with heavy use, leading serious players to keep spare copies.

Combos & variants

The lowest height comes from the 3-60 ratchet, great for upper attacks but weaker on burst resistance — swapping to a 3-80 ratchet gives a stronger lock at the cost of some height. On bits, Flat adds a little stamina over the stock Low Flat, while Taper is a much safer, longer-lasting option, and Point and Rush are community favorites. Other official Shark Edge variants include a 4-80N build from the same Random Booster and a 3-80F version.

Where to get one

Released as the prize bey of the BX-14 Random Booster Vol.1 in Japan (September 9, 2023, ¥1400) — meaning it came in a blind-box booster where collectors hoped to pull the prize, not a guaranteed starter. It reached Western fans through Hasbro as Keel Shark in a booster pack. If you want one, expect to hunt for it or trade rather than grab it off a peg.
