Scorpio Spear's Magenta Coat: The Bey That Changes Shape Mid-Battle

Most Beyblade X gimmicks live in the Bit. Scorpio Spear put one in the Blade instead, and it is still the strangest thing on a stadium floor two seasons after it launched.

Six points, then three

Scorpio Spear 0-70Z arrived in Japan on April 26, 2025 as the UX-14 Starter, priced at 2,200 yen. It is a right-spin Balance type, and at roughly 39.6 grams average it was the heaviest Blade in the line when it dropped.

The trick: the Blade starts as a round, six-pointed shape built to deflect hits. When the Bey hits an X-Dash, the lower plastic layer rotates in sync with the Bit and tucks away, leaving a three-pointed attack shape. You get a defensive Bey at the start of the battle and an aggressive one the moment you commit to a dash — without touching a single part.

That is a genuinely different idea from the usual approach of swapping Bits to change a Bey's character. The Bit still matters here, though. The Z Bit (Zap) is a 16-gear Bit, which gives a faster X-Dash than a standard 12-gear Bit but burns more stamina doing it. The 0-70 Ratchet was also new with this release.

The catch nobody mentions in the promo

Two rulings matter, and both are easy to miss.

First, you cannot launch Scorpio Spear in its attack shape. The launcher hook only fits the six-pointed configuration, so every battle starts on defense whether you want it or not. If you never dash, you never transform.

Second, the mechanism has to be reset by hand after each battle. It is a physical latch, not a spring that returns home on its own. Forget it and your next match starts with a Blade that is already in the wrong shape.

That combination — a gimmick that demands you actually dash, plus manual upkeep between rounds — is a big part of why the Bey never became a fixture at the top tables. It was heavy and it hit hard, but it asked more of the player than most Beys do.

What the magenta version actually is

The UX-00 Scorpio Spear 0-70Z Metal Coat: Magenta is the same Bey with a metallic magenta finish on the Blade's metal. Same gimmick, same parts, different coat.

It is not a retail product and never will be. It is an app and event exclusive, priced at 1,800 yen, distributed through the Rare Bey Get Battle in the official BEYBLADE X app. You enter the lottery by scanning a Bey Code from a product you already bought, and redeeming a winning ticket requires a Takara Tomy Mall account.

The timeline is worth tracking. The magenta run was first offered on April 25, 2026. Premium X members got priority access in July 2026. It then went quiet, and Takara Tomy has now confirmed it returns to the Rare Bey Get Battle once system maintenance wraps on November 5, 2026.

Why it is worth a look now

If you already own a UX-14 Scorpio Spear, the magenta coat changes nothing about how it battles. Buy it because you like the look, or because you want the limited run — not because you expect a performance bump.

If you have never used the Blade, this is a reasonable moment to try one. The heavy, wide contact points make it a natural fit for stamina and destabilization setups, and players have had good results pairing it with Ball, Free Ball, Hexa, Rush, and Point. It is not the terror it was in mid-2025, when it briefly reshaped the metagame. It is still a Bey that does something no other Blade does.

And that is the real reason to care. Every so often Beyblade X ships a part that makes you rethink what a Bey is allowed to do mid-battle. Scorpio Spear is one of those. The paint job is just the excuse. Most Beyblade X gimmicks live in the Bit. Scorpio Spear put one in the Blade instead — still the strangest thing on a stadium floor two seasons on.
