The bey
Phoenix Wing joined Beyblade X's lineup at the end of 2023 and immediately became a competitive darling — many fans call it one of the best Attack Type beyblades in the whole generation. It carries some of the heaviest Blade weight in the format and is genuinely good at two jobs at once: powerful smash attacks AND uppercut-style upper attacks. For tournament players it's essentially a must-buy.
Stock build
PhoenixWing / 9-60 / GF (Gear Flat)
- Blade: one of the heaviest blades in Beyblade X, capable of both smash attack (sending beys into the pockets) and upper attack (launching them over walls).
- Ratchet (9-60): nine-sided, giving nine separate contact points — excellent burst resistance and hard to twist open on impact.
- Bit GF (Gear Flat): a Flat attack bit with extended teeth designed to catch the Xtreme Line rail more easily, fueling fast, violent X-Dashes.
Good at: a complete attack package — heavy hits, great KO and burst potential, and a ratchet that survives clashes.
How it plays
Phoenix Wing is best described as controlled violence. It's fast and aggressive like a standard attacker, but its weight keeps it steadier and lets it keep spinning longer than most attack builds, so it's far less self-destructive than lighter attackers. It can win by KO, by burst, or just by outlasting fellow attackers. The Gear Flat bit gives it explosive X-Dash speed, and the nine-sided ratchet keeps it from bursting when the hits land — and land they do. About the only thing it can't do is match a pure stamina bey in an endurance contest.
Combos & variants
The 9-60 ratchet quickly became best-in-class on its own and gets reused across tons of community and tournament combos for its burst resistance, independent of the Phoenix Wing blade. The Gear Flat bit is a fine, competitive Attack option too. Later releases paired the Phoenix Wing blade with different parts, and its pieces slot easily into any aggressive deck.
Where to get one
Launched as a BX-23 Starter in Japan (December 27, 2023, ¥2420), bundled with a string launcher, with a recolored version also released. It later reached Western markets through Hasbro. Because the blade and ratchet are so strong in competitive play, it's one of the most sought-after Attack beyblades of its era.
