The bey

Knight Shield is the first Defense Type of the Beyblade X generation, and its name says it all. Where Dran Sword charges and Wizard Arrow spins, Knight Shield plants its feet — a bey built to absorb punishment and stay in the center of the stadium. Its Blade uses a shock-absorbing damper structure designed to soak up incoming hits, and it's often considered one of the strongest stock combos of the early format.

Good at: holding the middle of the stadium, shrugging off heavy attacks, and punishing careless attackers.

How it plays

Launch Knight Shield with confidence and it sits, steady as a rock, right in the center. That stationary behavior makes it reassuringly easy to control and genuinely threatening to aggressive Attack Types — their big hits just don't move it. The weakness is the sharp Needle tip: it has a tendency to tilt over early, which raises scraping risk, and the low friction plus the tall ratchet can lead to sudden KOs and bursts if things go wrong. Used well, it's a dependable fortress; used carelessly, it can topple.

Combos & variants

The stock build is strong on its own, but the Blade's defense potential really opens up with a bit swap. Replacing Needle with Taper turns it into an efficient counter-attack build that can chase down and burst stamina Types, while swapping in High Needle keeps it planted but dramatically improves its stamina. Players often keep the 3-80 ratchet in tournaments, occasionally experimenting with the 3-60.

Where to get one

Available as the BX-04 Starter and the later BX-06 Booster (Japan, July 15, 2023), and later released by Hasbro. It's an easy, worthwhile pickup — every component in the Starter pulls its weight in a competitive setting.
