The bey
Dran Sword is the mascot of Beyblade X — the first Attack Type of the whole new generation, and the bey fans picture when they hear "X". Its three-sided Blade carries sharp, aggressive contact points and a solid chunk of weight for a launch-wave bey, and its whole personality is pressure: get in, hit hard, and get out.
Stock build
DranSword / 3-60 / F (Flat)
- Blade: three-sided with sharp, aggressive contact points and a relatively heavy weight for a Starter — built to deliver strong, uppercut-style hits.
- Ratchet (3-60): three protrusions at a low 6.0 mm height, setting the bey low and low to the floor for committed attacks.
- Bit F (Flat): a flat tip that engages the Xtreme Line easily, so it accelerates into powerful X-Dashes but burns through spin quickly.
The stock combo is a classic "happy launcher" — an unfussy, aggressive attack build that rewards a confident pull of the string.
How it plays
Dran Sword is fast and feisty, all early aggression. Being top-heavy, it tends to fall over in the final stretch of a long battle, so it wins its fights in the first exchanges rather than outlasting anyone. Its heavy weight and flat tip give it great KO and burst potential off its own hits, but the high recoil can just as easily work against it — a clean counter can send it careening around the stadium. It's also a bey that wears down over time; the sharp attack points dull with heavy use.
Combos & variants
The stock 3-60 / F setup remains one of the standard attack templates in the format, and both the 3-60 ratchet and Flat bit get reused across countless community builds. Dropping the Flat bit for something with more stamina (like a Taper) calms Dran Sword down and helps it survive longer, at the cost of raw ferocity. Later X-series releases re-printed the bey in different sets, so genuinely fresh copies are easy to find.
Where to get one
Launched as a Starter in Japan (July 15, 2023, ¥1980), coming with a string launcher in the box. It later reached Western shelves through Hasbro's Beyblade X line. As one of the very first Beyblade X products, it's widely available and an easy first buy for any new-generation blader.
