One Year After Tokyo: Beyblade X's First World Championship Paved the Road to Bangkok

October 25, 2026

A year ago this month, on October 11-12, 2025, Beyblade X crowned its first world champions. The modern heir to the centuries-old beigoma spinning top held its biggest tournament yet at RED° TOKYO TOWER, the venue built into Tokyo Tower itself. The field broke records: more than 15,000 bladers from 21 regions — Chicago to Manila, Cologne to Auckland, Sao Paulo to Seoul — aged 6 to 67. Only 33 of them made the trip to Japan.

The first world champions

The 2025 format did something new. A Regular Class for ages 6-12 ran alongside an Open Class with no upper age limit, letting adults chase a world title for the first time in a Beyblade world championship.

In the Regular Class, Leobardo, who qualified through the Mexico City tournament, took gold. His final against Balya of Jakarta swung back and forth before ending in a Knockout Finish, with Berguiny of Paris taking third. The Open Class belonged to Fahreddin of Istanbul, who beat Kyle of Hong Kong across a Burst finish, a Survivor finish, and a decisive Xtreme Finish. Tokyo's own Omanju King filled out the podium. Three of the 21 qualifying regions — Mexico City, Istanbul, Hong Kong — produced finalists. The world showed up.

A circuit takes shape

That experiment looks like a starting gun now. On March 21, 2026 — Beyblade Day — TAKARA TOMY announced the BEYBLADE X GP series, folding qualifiers that had run under different names in every country into one named circuit starting May 2026, with an expected 19 regions across North America, Europe, and Asia in its first season. The same announcement brought the first-ever virtual Beyblade world championship, held on Roblox in May after the official BEYBLADE X-BATTLES experience passed 100 million visits in under a year.

Tokyo qualifies, Bangkok hosts

The real-world road runs through Tokyo. Two weeks ago, on October 11, GP 2026 TOKYO took over Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, where eight bladers per class — survivors of the X-TREME CUP G1 qualifiers that ran nationwide from May through August — battled for the two tickets to the final. The stage doubled as a reveal show, too: four new Beys debuted there, led by BahamutBlitz BK1-50I Metal Coat: Black.

The destination is Bangkok. The GP FINAL 2026 lands at ICONSIAM on December 12-13, and Thailand earned the honor fairly — it is the market where Beyblade X shipments have grown the fastest anywhere. One year ago, the question was whether a worldwide Beyblade circuit could hold together. Now the answer is a December weekend in a Bangkok riverside mall, with qualifiers from 19 regions across two classes, and two brand-new sets of world champions.
