BahamutBlitz BK1-50I Gets a Bangkok-Bound Black Coat
The black dragon is flying to Thailand. Takara Tomy closed out the BEYBLADE X GP 2026 TOKYO tournament on October 11 with a reveal that has collectors reaching for their wallets: BahamutBlitz BK1-50I Metal Coat: Black, a commemorative edition built to celebrate the first-ever BEYBLADE X GP FINAL, set for Bangkok this December.
A prize, not just a paint job
BahamutBlitz already had a good 2026. It launched in Japan on March 28 as CX-13, a ¥2,200 Starter that quickly earned a reputation as one of the Custom Line's sharpest attackers. It's an Attack-type, right-spin bey weighing in at 48.1 grams, and its parts tell the story: the jagged Blitz metal blade, the pointed Break over blade, the fist-like Knuckle assist blade, a low 1-50 ratchet, and the Ignition bit with its 16 gear teeth for blistering Xtreme Dashes. In the West, Hasbro shipped it as Blitz Bahamut in an Infinity Starter Pack at $14.99, hitting shelves in May.
The new Metal Coat: Black edition is a different animal. Despite the name, it isn't an all-black recolor. Photos from the event show a white outer layer, translucent gold and orange components, and black around the outer ring — a layered look that separates it cleanly from the earlier Metal Coat: Yellow version collectors already know.
Why Bangkok matters
This isn't just another limited colorway. It's the official memento of a milestone. The BEYBLADE X GP (Grand Prix) is Takara Tomy's newly unified global tournament circuit, launched worldwide in May 2026 to fold the many regional qualifier formats into one name. The GP FINAL 2026 in Bangkok is the series' first world final — and the first time the crown is decided on a truly global stage.
The event runs December 12–13 at ICONSIAM on the Chao Phraya, with two divisions: a Regular Class for ages 6–12 and an Open Class for anyone 6 and up, adults included. Thailand got the hosting nod in recognition of the brand's explosive growth there, and the qualifying road has already run across North America, Japan, Latin America, Asia, and Europe. The champion of the X-TREME CUP GP 2026 in Tokyo earned a direct ticket to Bangkok as well.
Four beys, one big night
BahamutBlitz wasn't alone at the Tokyo event. Takara Tomy actually unveiled four upcoming beys across the tournament. The black-dragon commemorative was confirmed during the Open Class final, while the other three — shown during the Regular Class and Open Class opening rounds — are still waiting on official names, part configurations, and product numbers, with full details originally slated for an October 15 announcement.
For now, the headline is clear: if you want the Bangkok-bound black dragon in your collection, it's a GP FINAL keepsake first and a bey second. Takara Tomy has yet to announce availability or pricing, so stay tuned to the official Beyblade channels — commemorative releases like this tend to move fast, and the Metal Coat line has a habit of selling out.
One thing's certain: when the first BEYBLADE X world champion is crowned in Bangkok this December, the blader holding the black BahamutBlitz will have the perfect souvenir of the moment.
